WOHNWAGON – independent & natural living

How much space do you actually need to live? We came to the conclusion: 25 m2 of natural living space that offer a unique living experience with refined materials and individual solutions - That's it. That’s all you need.

That’s why we created WOHNWAGON - individualized, mobile space for outdoor living. We work with natural and recycled materials. Independent. Reduced. Holistic. The goal is autarky: The wagon has its own photovoltaic and solar system on the roof, a BIO-toilet and water treatment system with a green filter and therefore allows independent living: a closed, innovative lifecycle. With our solutions we combine intelligent ways of energy production with sustainable resource-use and recycling. Technically, we are always trying to be one step ahead. We are constantly looking for the latest developments and are cooperating with universities and research institutes to keep up to date.

What’s special about WOHNWAGON is the individual production. Each wagon is different and adapted to its buyers needs. How self-sustained do you want to be? How do you want to use your wagon and what for? Do you want to use it as living space, office, hotel room or holiday home? We’ll find the perfect solution for you.

Our company was founded in 2013 and is based in Vienna. We efficiently financed the production of our prototype through the first successful Crowd investing campaign in Austria. Meanwhile we have produced our seventh wagon. On a long-term basis we want to be the first address when it comes to questions about independent, self-sustained living. Therefore we have created an online platform with video tutorials, a web shop and product explanations, which try to answer the questions about how an independent life could look like.

What do you actually need for a good life? Our world faces enormous challenges if we keep on treating our planet and resources the way we do. In the year 2030 we would need 2 earths to cover the resources we need. There have been movements for sustainability for years trying to tell us what to do. The problem: There seems to be little alternatives that actually make our lives better come with a clear and interesting vision.

With the Wohnwagon we created a unique and tangible model of a new way of living: autark, free, self-determined and with voluntary simplicity that really feels like luxury. We found a new way to reach people and give them an idea of what is possible. We are changing minds with a very hands-on experience combined with new technologies. We offer new solutions through the Wohnwagon itself, our workshop program and our webshop. The workshops and online-tutorials are an important part because they support empowerment: repair, build and design your own furniture, bring your ideas to reality.

Autarky is achieved by a photovoltaic system, compost-toilet and water treatment system with plants on the roof that work as a filter for the grey water. To develop this system we joined forces with a pioneer of photovoltaic technology in Austria, “raymann – kraft der sonne” and also established a research cooperation funded by FFG with the alchemia nova institute.

Our flagship product is our own development. The Wohnwagon is designed to fulfill all needs of living. With it’s composting toilet, water circulation system and photovoltaic off-grid system there is no external energy or connection needed. Through the Wohnwagon our customers can directly experience how independent living works and how it can actually be something awesome. Self-sufficiency is suddenly within reach for a wider target audience than ever before. A complex subject can be easily experienced.

In our webshop we filter the best and most important products and offer tutorials and workshops to transfer knowledge. We sell a wide range of products for a new lifestyle, that makes reduction the new luxury: autarky systems, tools, electroless appliances, plumbing solutions and much more. The advantage for our customers: They have one partner for all areas of living that really knows what he is talking about.
