HR/People Operations Admin

Meghan Gezo / March 14, 2017

Hi there!

We're looking for someone to join our HR / People Operations team at Zapier. Want to help nurture and grow the culture of a 80 person, 100% remote and growing company? If that sounds exciting to you, keep reading!

We know applying for and taking on a new a job at any company requires a leap of faith. We want you to feel comfortable and excited to apply at Zapier. To help share a bit more about life at Zapier here are a few resources in addition to the job description that can give you an inside look at what life is like at Zapier. Hopefully you'll take the leap of faith and apply.

About You

  • You are obsessed with details. Whether it is scheduling interviews or planning an event, you know that for some things the details are what matter most.
  • You are customer service focused. Whether it's making sure job applicants get timely responses or that a scheduled interview time will work for a candidate in Australia and a manager in Pennsylvania, you know that taking care of the little things makes your teammates lives much happier.
  • You’re price conscious and know how to weigh the options. You know that the least expensive flight isn’t always the best flight if it has four layovers, but you’re able to find affordable alternatives. Finding a balance between cost and your teammate’s comfort is your forte.
  • You have strong organization skills. You can juggle eight open job positions at once. Or manage to book plane flights for fifty people to a retreat and keep everyone's window or aisle preference straight. Being organized makes your life easier.
  • You are an excellent communicator. You make sure documents and spreadsheets cover any questions people may have and you make sure all relevant parties know about your work.
  • You can wear many hats and have a strong desire to learn. Zapier is a startup so you're not afraid to jump in and help in areas that need an extra helping hand.

About Zapier

For the past five years, Zapier has been helping people across the world automate the boring and tedious parts of their job. We do that by helping everyone connect the web applications they already use and love.

We believe that there are jobs a computer is best at doing and that there are jobs a human is best at doing. We want to empower businesses to create processes and systems that let computers do what they are best at doing and let humans do what they are best at doing.

We believe that with the right tools, you can have big impact with less hassle.

We believe in small teams. Small teams are fast and nimble. Small teams mean less bureaucracy and less management and more getting things done.

We believe that credentials don't say everything. Our CTO has a finance degree. Our CEO has an engineering degree. Our CPO has a mechanical engineering degree. What you love doing is way more important than the credentials you have.

We believe in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. All teammates at Zapier agree to a code of conduct.

Things You Might Do

The Whole Package

Location: Planet Earth

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary (we don't use remote as an excuse to pay less)
  • Great healthcare + dental + vision coverage
  • Retirement plan with 4% company match
  • Profit sharing
  • 2 annual company retreats to awesome places

Pick your own equipment. We'll set you up with whatever laptop + monitor combo you want plus any software you need.

Unlimited vacation policy (plus we insist you take at least 2 weeks off each year - this isn't a vague policy where unlimited vacation means no vacation). Work-life balance is really important to everyone at Zapier - we believe it and practice it!

Work with awesome companies around the world. We partner with the best software companies in the world and you'll constantly get to interact with people from these great companies.

How To Apply

We have a non-standard application process. To jump start the process we ask a few questions we normally would ask at the start of an interview. This helps speed up the hiring process and lets us get to know you a bit better right out the gate. Make sure to answer each question. Have fun with them. :-)

Complete this form with answers to the below questions

  • Tell us why you’d be a good fit for the role. Include a link to your LinkedIn profile or resume.
  • How did you hear about Zapier and the position?
  • What steps would you take to schedule a 90 minute interview with a candidate in New Zealand, a manager in Michigan and a teammate in the UK?
  • What three websites would you post a job description to find a Full Stack Engineer?
  • Tell us how you have handled or would handle a candidate that was told they would go no further in the application process, but they kept contacting you wanting to know why or wanting to apply for other jobs.
  • What steps you would take to book flights for 50 employees spread across the world to get to one central location.
  • Describe a situation where you had multiple tasks to complete and multiple people to answer to. How did you prioritize and complete all the tasks?
  • Optional: Share anonymously some demographic information about yourself to help us better track trends related to the backgrounds of candidates interested in working at Zapier in order for us to build a team that represents the users at Zapier and the broader world population.

Finally, wait for us to reply. We reply to everyone, even if we don't seem like a good fit.
