CryptonorDB is a NoSQL cloud database service that provides privacy and security by design.

EU Data Protection Directive (also known as Directive 95/46/EC) is designed to protect the privacy and protection of all personal data collected for or about citizens of the EU, especially as it relates to processing, using, or exchanging such data.

Today, cloud database providers comply with these regulations through contracts and SLAs and not by a technology that forbids them to access the data.
CryptonorDB encrypts JSON records on local device before being uploaded through database service in the cloud and only the user who owns the data may decrypt and use it. The encryption key is never sent to the cloud service, data being encrypted and decrypted only on client device just before is used.
