Draupner Energy is a community for energy professionals and the world’s first truly digital upstream energy company. We integrate crowdsourcing, collaborative thought generation and knowledge sharing, over an online platform, of our global community of industry professionals, academics, and passionate amateurs in our business model.Through the sharing of our own data, ideas and findings in this manner, we have access to a much broader and more diverse set of experiences than our peers that still operate within the boundaries of traditional and secretive business models.
In 2016, we have successfully completed our pilot project in the 29th UK offshore licensing round. Working with two members of the internet Community, we submitted, the first crowdsourced License application in the history of the international oil and natural gas industry. The acreage applied for potentially holds one of the largest gas fields on the UK Continental Shelf. Award announcements are expected in Q1 2017.
We are founded on the basis of a counter cyclic approach to oil and gas investment and on the conviction that continued global investment at the current low levels is not sustainable, as the International Energy Agency predicts a continued growth in consumption while the depletion of current reserves continues to outpace new discoveries. Our initial geographic focus is on the United Kingdom and Norway.
The co-founders have solid experience from various leadership positions in the international energy industry, from companies such as Chevron, Statoil, Norsk Hydro and Statkraft, and a strong oil and gas industry track record with proven oil and gas finder skills second to none.
