SEP’s history in venture capital goes back to 1991. Since then we have invested in over 150 companies, many of which have gone on to achieve considerable success on a global scale.
We have one of the largest and most experienced venture capital teams in Europe. Our core values mean we are professional, supportive, long term investors. We are also noted for our commitment to forming and maintaining strong relationships with the entrepreneurs and management teams we invest in.
As an independent firm, we have significant flexibility as to the nature and stage of companies we invest in. We tend to concentrate on companies based in the UK as we prefer to be active investors. We can make investments in companies in other countries where we are confident we can be closely engaged.
We predominantly invest in growth stage companies but can also make investments in earlier stage businesses with outstanding potential.
Since 2000, we have raised 5 significant limited partnership funds all of which have been backed by blue chip institutional investors. As well as primary investment funds, we have partnered with FTSE 100-company SSE plc and manage secondary and infrastructure finance funds which are focused mainly on the energy sector.
