Startup Sauna accelerator helps promising early-stage startups to get ready for taking the next step, be it entering their market or raising a seed round of funding. Our coaches are some of the most talented serial entrepreneurs, investors and other industry experts in Finland and the surrounding region.

Currently 145 companies have graduated from Startup Sauna since 2010, raising more than USD 37 million in funding. We’ve done over 100 coaching events in Nordics, Eastern Europe and Russia, which has given our coaches a good understanding of the problems and needs of an early-stage startup from our region.

Startup Sauna is open for startups from all fields of business as long as the company has the potential to scale globally and a superb team that can deliver.

Startup Sauna Accelerator

Startup Sauna connects the most promising startups from Nordics, Eastern Europe and Russia with experienced serial entrepreneurs, investors and other industry experts through an intensive one month accelerator program. We focus heavily on business development: from finding a scalable business model to understanding the target market and customers’ needs, and from pitching to putting together an investor deck. Naturally, technical help is also available.

The best teams of each batch are brought to Silicon Valley after the accelerator program to get understanding of the US market, that is, to meet investors, media, customers and potential partners.

Once accepted to Startup Sauna, a company also gets access to Slush, the leading startup event in Europe. In 2014 Slush attracted more than 13.000 attendees, 1.400 startups, 700 investors and 600 media representatives.

Startup Sauna is a non-profit organization and its events and programs are free-of-charge.

What happens and when?

Startup Sauna is organised twice a year, the Spring program in May-June and the Fall program in October-November. The program takes place in our own co-working space in Helsinki, Finland. The application period opens two months before the program starts.

Silicon Valley

We take the best teams from each batch to Silicon Valley as a part of the accelerator program. The Silicon Valley trip takes place 1-2 months after the Demo Day, in January or in June.

Startup Sauna organises a one-week program of meetings and visits for the startups. The purpose of the trip is to force the startups to learn all they can about the US market and what the Silicon Valley startup ecosystem has to offer.

Participating teams will get the chance to:

meet some of the most prestigious VCs in Silicon Valley
pitch at an angel event organized by Startup Sauna
acquire customers, partners and media coverage
get to know entrepreneurs from our network living in the Bay Area
