Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport your Zoom Tours guide will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel (Kilimanjaro White House Hotel) in Moshi. Settle into your accommodation relax and get used to the African atmosphere. Ready to start your Mount Kilimanjaro Bike Tour in the morning.

Day 1: Moshi - Marangu Gate –Kilema Gate –Horombo Hut

Meet your guide and embark on your transfer to the Marangu gate, which takes about 45 minutes. The journey passes through the village of Marangu which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. Once you reach the park gate all hikers are required to register at the Park office. After signing-in and registering at the Marangu gate, we drive to the Kilema gate. Upon arrival you will ensure that you have all your daypack items (containing at least drinking water, your lunch pack and extra clothing) and do a final check on your mountain bike. You will then start the first route section of 16km, (with your guide also on a mountain bike) from the Kilema gate (1 950m) to the Horombo hut (3 705m). Bikers with good fitness levels, mountain biking skills and subject to road conditions, will be able to cycle all the way to Horombo hut. It is important to remember that the biggest cause of altitude sickness is ascending too high too quickly. We will be stopping regularly and to give your body the maximum time to adjust to the higher altitudes. We will aim to reach Horombo hut at around 15:00 . DINNER AND OVERNIGHT AT HOROMBO HUT.

Day 2: Full Day Horombo Acclimatization (Horombo Hut – Mawenzi Hut -Horombo)

After breakfast you start your "cycling", riding through Alpine desert, you will be riding on small stone area up to Mawenzi hut and back to Horombo hut. Today is 90% riding on “Alpine desert vegetation, cycling distance is 10 kilometers.

Day 3: Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut

After an early breakfast, meet your guide and start your ascent into the Alpine desert habitat. The first 3 km of the trail is very rocky and cycling will be very difficult as this section is very stony and eroded. After about 3km the trail improves and "cycling" will once again be possible. The “Saddle” (which refers to the area located between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo) this is relatively flat and cycling is much easier. However high altitudes, low oxygen levels and cold conditions make the 7km section towards Kibo hut strenuous and challenging. The final km before reaching Kibo hut is especially strenuous. You will once again be reminded to slow down and drink enough water. Upon arrival at Kibo hut lunch will be served. After lunch we will embark on an awesome Kilimanjaro downhill, descending nearly 800m over 7km. The final 3km descend down to Horombo hut is very technical and challenging. Dinner and overnight at Horombo hut.

Day 4: Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut

Early wake and make sure your duffel bags are packed and ready to go. After breakfast, meet your guide and we head back up to Kibo hut. Again, the first 3km would require you pushing and carrying your bike a lot, with the final 7km to Kibo hut offering a good biking trail. We will enjoy lunch and then aim to rest. Due to the fast gain in elevation to high altitude, this route does not provide the necessary stages for acclimatization. Although the number of people on this trail is very low, the chances of success are also low. Umbwe is considered to be very difficult, taxing route - one that should only be attempted by strong and experienced hikers who are confident in their ability to acclimatize quickly to altitude. On this route, approaching from the South direction, the Umbwe route is a short, steep and direct climb. After reaching Barranco campsite, the trail turns East and traverses underneath Kilimanjaro's Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. About the Mara River Crossing (July to October)

During this period of the year, the herd continues its movement north towards the Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya. There is no tight schedule that these animals follow, and so tracking the herd's movements becomes a day-to-day prospect as they meander slowly but inexorably towards the next big obstacle in their path the Mara River. The Mara River poses another deadly barrier for the herd, who must again brave swollen waters and the opportunistic predators if they are to find relatively safety on the far side. Photographers and documentarians from around the world gather to witness the death-defying crossing, but the surrounding landscapes are every bit as memorable as the life and death struggle taking place at the Kogatende crossing. It is one of the most amazing site in Serengeti National Park.

Home to large numbers of hippos and Nile crocodiles, the Mara River is the last major obstacle standing between the Wildebeest Migration and the relative safety of the Maasai Mara. If you are patient and a little lucky, you may even get to witness the death-defying crossing itself where wildebeest and zebras brave the river's currents and crocodiles in an attempt to reach safety on the opposite bank. 3 Days Mount Meru Climbing
Product category:
Mount Meru Climbing

3 Days Mount Meru Climbing

Get in Touch with Momela route|Trekking mount Meru 3 days tour cost packages, Meru is a great preparation hike for climbing Kilimanjaro, or a spectacular trekking for those not compelled to do Kilimanjaro. You will hike past wildlife, the landscape is spectacular, and sunrise on the summit has Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. While it can be done in only 4 days, it is not an easy peak to summit. To reach the top (almost 15,000 feet), there is some scrambling on rocks in the dark and at high altitude. You should be prepared for at least 10 hours of hiking on summit day. For an easier hike, you can climb just to Rhino Point for sunrise overlooking Kilimanjaro, and then descend.

Mt. Meru is in Arusha National Park. In Arusha National Park all hikers must be accompanied by an armed ranger. This ranger is employed directly by the national park. You will also have your own mountain guide, who is managing the crew and watching out for your safety. The park ranger has the authority to make decisions such as trail choices, pace, etc. Arusha National Park may combine groups of people to hike with one park ranger, therefore, we cannot guarantee a completely private Meru trekking. Arusha National Park requires the hire of porters specific to Arusha National Park, who will be assigned once you arrive at the trail registration.

Day 1: Drive from Arusha Momela Gate to Miriakamba Hut

By mid-afternoon, you will have your first close views of the towering cliffs and the Ash Cone. Miriakamba Hut, situated in idyllic grassy glade, is reached in time to enjoy the afternoon sun and beautiful views over the surrounding plains towards Kilimanjaro.

The route back to Rhino Point in the sharp morning light along a narrow ridge between the sloping outer wall of the crater and the sheer cliffs of the inner wall is one of the most dramatic and exhilarating walks in Africa. 4 days Climbing Mount Meru
Product category:
Mount Meru Climbing

4 days Climbing Mount Meru

4 days/3 Night trips Mount meru Climbing Packages, the 4 (four) days Mount Meru Climb & Hike is the best for acclimatization prior to Mount Kilimanjaro climbing.

At 4566m, Mount Meru is the fifth highest mountain on the African continent and the second highest in Tanzania. About 250 000 years ago, a massive volcanic blast blew away the entire eastern flank of the mountain and left it with the characteristic and distinctive appearance it has today. Last eruption: 1910. The mountain is located within Arusha National Park, Tanzania’s gem. This prime location gives trekkers the chance to spot some of the wildlife that inhabits the area.

Because Mount Meru is located in Arusha National Park, hikers must climb with an armed ranger due to the wide range of wildlife living on the mountain. On the lower slopes of the mountain, hikers are more likely to see elephants, giraffes, and buffalo. As hikers continue their ascents, the trail follows the north rim of the volcano’s crater along a dramatic ridge line. Throughout the climb, hikers sleep in designated huts along the trail. Hikers reach the summit as the sun is rising and they will have spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and of the Mt. Meru Crater.

An easy 40-minute drive from Arusha. Approximately 60 km (35 miles) from Kilimanjaro International Airport. The lakes, forest and Ngurdoto Crater can all be visited in the course of a half-day outing at the beginning or end of an extended northern safari. NOTE: Mountain Climbing Permits duration time is 12 HOURS.

The Mt Meru ascent passes through many different vegetation zones. The dry forest of the lower region gives way to a dense mountain rainforest, which then turns into a scrubland. Towards the top of the mountain, the vegetation consists of heath and moorland and is then finally replaced by the stunning baron alpine deserts. As the flora changes the wildlife does so too, which is diverse and equally impressive. During the ascent, you will regularly come across large game such as elephants and buffalos but you may also come across leopards. Due to this it is obligatory to be accompanied by an armed park ranger on your tour.

Day 1: Arusha - Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

 • Elevation (m): (1,387 m to (1,500 m)

 • Elevation (ft): 4,921 ft) to 3,000 ft )

 • Distance: 10 km

 • Hiking Time: 4-6 hours

 • Habitat: Montane Forest

In the morning, you will be pick up from your hotel and after a 45-minute drive, you will arrive at the Arusha National Park Gate. At the national park gate, your guide will complete the obligatory entry forms and whilst he does so, you can peruse the information boards of the national park. Once the formalities have been completed and the hiking team consisting of porters from the surrounding villages is formed, you will then be driven a little further to Momella Gate. An armed park ranger will accompany you while you start your hike and get a first glimpse of the wonderful giraffes and buffalos. Once you have left the buffalo herds and giraffes behind, you will enter the acacia forest in which you will follow the Southern Route. After a steady 2-hour climb, you will reach Maio Falls and some picturesque meadows that are a perfect place for a picnic.

After a rest, you will procced with climbing and soon reach the well-known ‘Arched Fig Tree’. Here your park ranger will tell you about the formation of this tree and how it gained its shape forming an arch over the path. After another 1:30- 2hours, you will reach the Miriakamba Hut. Evening meal and overnight stay at the Miriakamba Hut.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

 • Elevation (m): 2,514m to 3,570m

 • Elevation (ft): 8,250ft to 11,712ft

 • Distance: 8 km

 • Hiking Time: 3-5 hours

 • Habitat: Forest and Moorland

In the morning, you will leave the Miriakamba Hut behind and follow a steep track with wooden steps upwards. Due to the gain in height, it will be noticeably cooler than the previous day and due to this, the hike will seem to get easier. The clouds also often hang in the rainforest and dip the lush vegetation in a moody atmosphere.
