Android Mobile App Developer - Java/Kotlin

Are you a Junior Mobile Engineer looking to take your next step, or perhaps a more senior developer who feels they are stuck doing the same thing over and over? If so we have a great opportunity for you. We are looking for people to join our Agency who want to work on a variety of projects of wildly different size, scope and complexity! We’ve built VR apps for Visit Scotland, a safety Auditing platform for Menzies Aviation, consumer products for MoneySuperMarket, a Pothole detection app with machine based learning with Transport Scotland – and many, many, more.

Our apps are primarily built Natively or in Xamarin, and we continue to experiment with new technologies. The right person for us will probably have a background in building apps in either Java or Kotlin– but be cross platform curious (and if you have experience in this then great!) We also want you to be a good Engineers, someone who has experience and an understanding of the implementation of clean code principles, unit testing, Git, and at least a couple of years experience. The work we do isn’t easy, so good experience of applying the Android Framework in a challenging project would stand you in good stead.

Requirements

Required Skills :

·       Degree in computer science / software engineering or equivalent technical knowledge

·       Strong knowledge of Kotlin or Java

·       Experience consuming RESTful APIs

·       Native mobile development targeting recent versions of Android

·       Confident with using Git from the terminal

·       Unit Testing and Test Driven Development

Preferred Skills:

·       Knowledge/experience of clean architecture and SOLID principles

·       CI tools (e.g. Jenkins)

·       JIRA or similar project management tool

·       Experience with working on a Scrum Team and participating in sprint ceremonies

·       Experience collaborating with other specialists such as testers, designers and product owners.
