Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer

DEXMA is a SaaS company based in Barcelona. We build software that tackles one of the world’s hardest challenges: sustainable energy usage. Our customers provide us with millions of building energy readings every day, which we analyze in real time and help them increase their overall efficiency.

We are hiring a data scientist with background in Machine Learning and experience on Python and/or R to join our team.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics. Strong statistics and operations research background with teachable knowledge of various analytic methodologies including data mining, model selection & verification, optimization, neural networks, clustering, and/or signal processing.

The role:

As a member of an innovative startup on a rapid growth path, the ideal candidate must be able to juggle multiple responsibilities, be comfortable in developing cutting-edge machine learning and statistical algorithms as well as have the ability to switch contexts between research literature searches, rapid algorithmic prototyping, as well as assisting in code testing and deployment with the development team. You day-to-day will also involve developing prototypes and participate on the development of new product features, trying to solve our customers problems and figure out how to improve their daylife.

For example, you will help our customers to automatically detect anomalies in their consumption, apply recognition patterns and recommend what to do. Moreover, from the overall energy consumption you will help them to disaggregate it and understand how much is being consumed by the different building subsystems.

To feed our thoughts, each of us have “innovation time” to explore new tools and ideas (10% of our work time).

Technologies that we use:

Our stack is mainly based on Python but we also rely on other languages such as R for specific purposes. As a Data Science team we are mainly focussed on the following technologies (we don’t expect you to master all of them):

• Python: NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, scipy, StatsModels, pytest, Flask, ...
• R: Shiny, ggplot2, Plotly
• DBs: Cassandra, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, ...
• Infrastructure: Git, Jenkins, Docker
• IDE & Tools: JetBrains All Products Pack (PyCharm, DataGrip,...)
