Internship - Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant

We are rapidly growing vacation rental company based in London with a small operation also in Paris.  We also venture in property acquisition, development, and management. We are looking for an intern to work with our qualified accountant to assist on all financial matters of the business.

Core Responsibilities:

Assisting with the following:

  • Preparing management & statutory accounts, periodic financial statements, (Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash flow Statements) using Xero accounting software

  • Journals/Prepayments/Accruals

  • Accounts Payable/Receivable - working capital management - tracking aged debtors

  • Processing Weekly and monthly payroll and some HR tasks - keeping track of employee holidays, sick days, overtime, new starters and leavers and calculating pay pro-rata etc.

  • Processing all accounting transactions - sales and purchase invoices on Xero

  • Reconciling all transactions with bank statement

  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns & submitting them to HMRC

  • Preparing Statements and Invoices for our clients - calculating commission, cleaning, membership, management and letting fees on sales

  • Recording client expenses on Xero and assigning to relevant clients as a reimbursable expense

  • Creating detailed Profit and Loss budgets and cashflow forecasts

  • Finding potential tax optimisation schemes in order to minimise tax burden on the business

  • Managing client funds through our segregated client deposit account and reconciliations - ensure client and our funds are allocated correctly

  • Offering professional judgement on financial matters and advising on ways to improve business

  • Improving and streamlining processes and controls

  • Preparing R&D expenditure info in order to make claims for R&D Tax Credits from HMRC

  • Intercompany transactions and consolidations

 

Scope and Group Structure:

Your responsibilities will lie with our main business, City Relay Ltd.  In addition you will assist with with accounts for our other subsidiaries as outlined below.
 

City Relay Group subsidiaries:

  • City Relay Ltd - vacation rental agency.

  • Toms Lettings Ltd - Rents properties on long term tenancy contracts and uses City Relay Ltd to sublet these properties

  • FG Properties Ltd - accommodation booking website and vacation pricing software

Leufroy Group subsidiaries:

  • Leufroy Ltd -  long term rental agency

  • GMMLM Ltd - long term rental agency

  • AM West Ltd - Construction company

Requirements:

The position requires a highly motivated, bright, committed and independent individual who thrives in a dynamic and challenging environment and is results driven. You’ll be committed to getting maximum value from every communications opportunity.

  • You will have experience using google sheets / excel or the equivalent.

  • You will have an interest in pursuing a formal accountancy qualification, ACA, CIMA or ACCA
