Junior Systems Administrator
About the Position
This position is for a Systems Engineer to join Kilgray’s Support department, in the Infrastructure team. The Infrastructure team is responsible for operating Kilgray’s internal IT systems, as well as the external, public-facing servers, including communications systems, websites, and Kilgray’s own public cloud. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for performing day-to-day administration tasks, and implementing changes to the infrastructure.
The environment consists primarily of Windows Server systems, but several customer-facing systems are Linux-based, many using a Java Enterprise architecture.
Responsibilities:

Manages and maintains internal and public-facing systems (e.g. messaging, intranet portal, public websites, Activation Server, manages users, etc.)

Performs daily administration and monitoring of internal and public-facing systems, and troubleshoots issues

Provides helpdesk service for internal systems

Helps the support and services teams, and answers infrastructure-related support tickets

Escalates issues, if necessary

Participates in future developments and upgrades on internal and public-facing IT systems

Performs monthly patching, updating and other recurring tasks of both Windows and Linux servers

Monitors servers and backups, and takes action if necessary

Manages security devices, such as firewalls (firewall rules, publications, etc.)
Requirements:

Preferably 1-2 years' experience managing Windows Server operating systems

The ideal candidate also has junior-level technical knowledge of the following technologies:

Windows Server technologies: Active Directory, DNS, IIS, Hyper-V

Messaging: Exchange Server

SharePoint experience is a plus

Knowledge of Linux systems is a plus

Efficient oral and written communication skills in the English language

Relevant Microsoft certification exams are a plus
