Production Unit Lead

Reporting to:  R&D Group Leader

Responsible for:  Mosquito Production Facility

Purpose of the job

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable Production Team Leader to be part of a UK team dedicated to the running and optimising of our UK production facility. This position involves managing a small, dedicated team and seeking to improve our product quality through close work with our Quality Management Team.

The successful candidate will preferably be educated to BSc level with 5 or more years of experience in managing a team in a production environment. Experience in the production of a biological entity is preferable, although not required. They will have a self-starting attitude, show strong leadership and organisational skills, and demonstrate great attention to detail.  The successful candidate will be able to deliver a high-quality product as demanded by company priorities while moving the unit toward a GMP standard.  Experience with GMP and other quality management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role are to include:

  • Managing a team of skilled production operators
  • Producing a high-quality product per issued SOPs
  • Fulfils internal and external orders
  • Improved production processes through work with Quality and Innovation Teams
  • Maintains and continuously improves the quality standard.
  • Ensures up to date and compliant documentation (SOPs, non-conformance reports, change control records etc.)
  • Regular reporting of unit outputs and performance

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • BSc or equivalent experience plus 5 or more years managing a team in a production environment
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including team building and cohesion
  • Well-developed organisational skills
  • Experience with Quality Systems such as GMP and ISO 9001 and tools like DMAIC, FIFO and 5S
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proficient user of Excel to analyse straightforward data sets
  • Experience with an ERP system preferred
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK

Benefits

Salary will be competitive dependent on experience, plus pension plan and 25 days’ annual leave.
