Programme Manager – MIBP (ERDF funded)

London & Partners () is the Mayor of London's official promotional agency. We exist to support the Mayor’s priorities by promoting London internationally as a leading world city in which to invest, work, study and visit.

Our work helps achieve ‘good growth’ for London and Londoners, as outlined in the Mayor’s economic development strategy. We do this by focusing on:

  • building London's international reputation
  • attracting international audiences and convincing them to choose London
  • guiding international audiences to make the most of all that London has to offer
  • helping to retain and grow London’s businesses

We tell London's story brilliantly to an international audience and we do this in partnership with organisations and people who have a stake in London's international promotion.

The Business Directorate is responsible for doing business in London & internationally. The Mayor’s International Business Programme () helps London-based high growth businesses to expand into new international markets. The programme supports companies in the technology, creative, life sciences and urban sectors looking for advice in their international growth plans.

Key tasks

  • Management of the mentoring programme, ensuring that companies are appropriately matched with a mentor best suited to provide the advice they need with their international expansion plans. Recruitment and induction of new mentors onto the programme and relationship management of the mentor network.
  • Organise monthly meet the mentor sessions and quarterly mentor matching events. This will include organising a high-profile entrepreneur speaker, ensuring that briefings are done in a timely fashion and gathering feedback from these sessions to report back to the team.
  • Day to day management of the corporate engagement programme, developing relationships with corporates and ensuring that new corporates are brought onto the programme to engage with our companies.
  • Organising monthly meet the corporate session, desigining the agenda to ensure maximum value to our companies and the corporate. You will be in charge of speakers, briefings and gathering feedback and outcomes following the event. You will also need to engage with marketing to ensure that social media is actively used to promote the event before, during and after.
  • Supporting the delivery of large scale events across the Directorate, working closely with the Programme Manager on the Business Growth Programme to deliver event content.
  • Working across the team to provide support on international visits, ensuring that key corporates and mentors are engaged and working with the team to provide maximum impact for our companies.
  • Line managing the International Business Assistant; to include setting objectives, conducting appraisals and ensuring they are delivering against their targets and actively supporting programme delivery.
  • Work with marketing to collect data as necessary to report back to the Head of the Mayor’s International Business Programme, to include stats on programme content, business wins, jobs and any other pertinent data to share with stakeholders such as the GLA and ERDF teams.
  • Realise the benefits of a flexible approach to work in undertaking the duties and responsibilities of this job, and participating in multi-disciplinary, cross-department and cross-organisational groups and project teams.

You’ll Have
 

  • Awareness of the economy of London and the role that the Mayor can play in improving economic wellbeing in the capital;
  • A good appreciation and understanding, ideally gained from experience, of working within a politically complex and high-profile organisation;
  • An understanding of European structural funds.
  • Experience of working in the public and the private sector;
  • Experience of working on Trade and Investment strategies;
  • Knowledge of the tech ecosystem in London
