The Role

This position would suit an experienced purchase ledger clerk who will have responsibility for all daily and monthly tasks whilst gaining exposure to the wider finance function.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Take total ownership/responsibility for the purchase ledger function
  • Manage the workload of 1 part-time purchase ledger assistant
  • Manage the finance email inbox, ensuring a 24 hour turnaround deadline is met at all times
  • Resolve all purchase ledger queries quickly and accurately
  • Maintain all group purchase ledgers to a high standard
  • Review all ledgers weekly to make sure suppliers are paid within credit terms
  • Reconcile supplier statements
  • Process BACS and cheque payments
  • Reconcile credit card statements regularly throughout the month
  • Process expense claims quickly and accurately
  • Prepare and process payment runs throughout the month
  • Code, process and file all purchase invoices
  • Open and distribute daily mail
  • Other ad hoc finance tasks as required
     

Skills/Experience Required

  • Significant purchase ledger experience with exposure to multiple group companies
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles e.g. debits, credits
  • Experience of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience of accounting software

 

Desirable

  • Experience of Great Plains accounting software
