Senior Data Analyst

About the role:

To improve the service to our customers, we are undertaking a project to renew our Marketing and eCommerce website for Australia. Your main objective will be to ensure that any and all data we present to the customers is fit for purpose - accurate, reliable, timely and flexible enough to evolve in line with changes to our products, our business structure and business systems.

The position is offered on a 6 month fixed-term contract basis to start as soon as possible.

You would be asked to provide clear and understandable data models and data flows for a management audience, as well as specific, precise specifications and documentation for technical staff.  Data quality is a key criteria for a successful solution and we expect you to recommend solutions that protect the quality and integrity of our data. You will need to raise – and propose solutions to – any data quality and data integrity issues that you encounter.

We use agile practices as far as possible, in order to deliver value to our users early and frequently, while working at a sustainable pace.

About you:

As a project team member, we would expect a high level of professional expertise and an understanding of how the role fits within the overall system landscape.

You will need to demonstrate our six behavioural values; collaborative, decisive, empowering, innovative, responsible and responsive.

You need to demonstrate that you are unafraid of trying new tools, new ways of working, or new methodologies, and that you have the aptitude to learn quickly. You will be expected to share your skills and experience with the rest of the team, and in return you will be supported in your own development.

Much of your workload will be business facing, and your will need to display a “can do” service attitude. We expect you to be able to organise your own work and be highly aware of how you spend your time effectively. In return you will have a lot of flexibility and trust to make your own decisions with a minimum of administrative hurdles.

A main challenge will be to create reusable patterns and data structures connecting to diverse systems in different parts of the world; for this you will need good communication and listening skills and the ability to create models in order to analyse the information you discover. Collaborating with colleagues in all different parts of the organisation, you need to communicate clearly and with integrity to aid understanding at all times.

About us:

Our global not-for-profit organisation is committed to the advancement of knowledge worldwide through our exciting publishing programme. You will be joining a diverse and collaborative workforce and you will be supported in your career ambitions to achieve your potential.

Help us achieve our mission, and you will have a career that is not only hugely satisfying but brings with it great benefits and a stimulating, supportive and flexible working environment.

Why us?

A great central Cambridge location, our office is only a ten minute walk from the train station and guided busway. Benefits include a staff incentive scheme, flexible working, free life assurance and a contributory pension scheme, 28 days’ annual leave, subsidised restaurant and café, free on-site gym and sports facilities, and season ticket travel loans.

Interviews will take place w/c 9th July.

To apply, please complete the online application by 4th July.
