Senior Implementation Manager – Bank Integrations

We’re looking for a Senior Implementation Manager to join our growing TransferWise for Banks team. You’ll help partner banks leverage our API to offer TransferWise’s much-loved products through the bank’s own infrastructure – to reach millions of new customers and transform the international payments experience for bank customers.

This is not a standard project management role – we are looking for someone that just loves delivering complex projects in banks. You will be working independently on integrations into intricate bank IT systems, navigating complex partner requirements, working through a range of regulations and with an array of bank stakeholders.

You will:

  • Lead banks in implementing the TransferWise solution in their online and mobile platforms,  ensuring the final product offers customers a world class international payment experience. Our API documents are public – check these out to start understanding the product.
  • Own all aspects of the project, including the technical integration, funds and data flows, compliance requirements and contractual agreements.  You’ll agree detailed implementation plans and timelines with our partners, holding them accountable to these.
  • Drive the solution scope and phasing, helping banks move at speed whilst reshaping the project as needed throughout. You won’t accept delays and will always propose solutions.
  • Navigate the complex internal world of banks. You’ll get approvals and remove blockers with, or on behalf of, our internal sponsors to ensure the project stays on track.
  • Competently manage bank stakeholders, up to CEO and board level, including those not directly involved with the project.
  • Support our business development team in the sales process and work with engineers and product managers on partner specific requirements – setting clear scope and proposing new features or improvements to our current offering.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Reinvent the way banks around the world offer international payments to their customers, completely transforming this experience.
  • Work on one of the biggest levers of our mission.  We are able to reduce prices by scaling the volume of money we move – and a lot of that volume passes through banks.
  • Be flexible in how and where you work, we understand that everyone needs a little something different so we’ll do our best to make it happen

A bit about you

  • You have experience in delivering multiple complex implementations of API’s or other integrations within banks. You understand the way a typical bank defines and executes an IT project, with a solid understanding of bank IT systems and the challenges they face.
  • You understand how internal stakeholders influence bank decisions. You’re always prepared to question the decisions banks make, instead of taking them as a given.
  • You are equally comfortable working on technical architecture, compliance requirements, legal obligations and commercial models and able to shape and influence bank’s thinking on these points.
  • You’re creative in finding solutions when discussions are blocked. You’ll have a number of ways to quickly reach agreements that work for us, the bank and customers.
  • You’re able to create and manage project plans. Specific project management tooling experience is not relevant, you are responsible for the ‘how’ bit.
  • You’re a proactive thinker – You can manage your time well, identify risks as well as opportunities, and are able to prioritise conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • You are an excellent communicator who can express your thoughts and ideas clearly and honestly with respect for others, who may have conflicting opinions.  You can convince others to help you get stuff done.
  • You are customer-focused. At TransferWise, they always come first, so you need to be enthusiastic about helping our customers and delivering on our mission.

Some extra skills that would be awesome

  • You understand how international payments  work in banks today. You’ll have a list of things that implementing TransferWise in a bank is likely to break.
  • You have built an app or worked on an API. Maybe for work, maybe as a side project.

A bit about TransferWise:

Since 2011, we’ve had a clear mission: money without borders. Built by and for people who live global lives, we’re the fairest, easiest way to manage your money across borders.

We’re just at the beginning of our story and we’re growing at an incredible pace. We won’t stop until anyone, anywhere can send, spend and receive money wherever they are, whatever they’re doing. There’s still heaps to do and we can’t do it alone.

Our People:

At TransferWise, you’ll be joining a movement of people who believe in a better, fairer, more transparent way of moving money around the world. You’ll collaborate to do your best work and take on problems that no one has looked at before.

If you’re keen to learn, grow, try new things and aren’t afraid of a bold plan, you’ll fit right in.

How we work:

At TransferWise our strategy emerges from the collective brainpower of all our people, who are organised in dozens of independent, autonomous teams. Teams stay closest to our customers, so they choose what problems to solve and where to spend the most time.

You’ll experience radical levels of ownership and empowerment within your role. Plus the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work on our customers.

Please note – we will be reviewing applications for this position in January 2020
