What you will be doing:

We operate our own cloud infrastructure distributed across multi-tenant datacenters throughout Switzerland. This infrastructure is connected through a multi-Terabits redundant network relying on cutting-edge technologies.

You will join our team to perform network daily operation and support the development of our fast-growing infrastructure. You will be closely working with both ProtonMail engineering team, and external partners. This position requires work on-shift as well as outside working hour. Our international environment requires English fluency.

Requirements:

• Routing expertise: BGP and OSPF
• Strong in LAN, WAN, Data Center networks
• VxLAN, EVPN forwarding, Multi-tenancy, VPN
• 5+ years of proven track record of success, preferably in an ISP environment or large-scale data center environment
• NOC experience
• Proven experience in Arista, Cisco or Juniper routers/switches
• Network security and system hardening (e.g. Firewall, ACL, segmentation, Monitoring)
• Extensive experience with network troubleshooting (L1 to L4)
• Experience in network scripting/automation (ideally with Python)

Bonus points for:

• Networking and Internet protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, TLS) on Linux servers
• Bird, ExaBGP, HAProxy
• Experience in Design pattern, Object Oriented programming, SQL Databases
• Well versed in security and with a good understanding of security best practices
• Ability to keep up in an extremely fast-paced environment
• Fluent in French or German will be appreciated
• Master’s degree in a relevant field of study and/or scientific background
• Certification in the field of Network/Security would be an asset

What You will do:

• Work in team to deploy, monitor and maintain a secure, reliable and scalable network
• Perform deep dives on technical network, hardware, and Linux OS related issues
• Create, validate and maintain documentation for the global infrastructure knowledge base
• Build and operate petabyte scale storage solutions
• Create and test documentation for the global data center knowledge base
• Write software to improve network automation and site reliability
• Participate in rotating on-call duties in a global, 24x7x365, team
