Description
The Role and Responsibilities:
- You will be charged with supporting and maintaining some of our internal systems, delivering complex orders, and getting involved in interesting project work.
- You will be supporting our range of Windows/Linux server hosting solutions, as well as advising and helping the sales team specify the most suitable solution for a given scenario.
- You will ideally be experienced with Windows technologies, even better if this is within an ISP / Hosting environment.
- You will work with our account managers to ensure that their product knowledge is complete and up to date so enquires are answered in an effective and efficient manner in order to deliver fantastic customer service.
- You will work closely with the senior management team to identify business development opportunities and work on projects to help achieve business objectives.
- The position of Support Engineer includes being on call, although the number of calls that get escalated from our 24/7 support team is low.
Skills/Experience
The successful candidate is likely to have:-
- Understanding of Windows Server 2008/2012, IIS, Active Directory
- Exposure to RedHat/CentOS/Debian/CloudLinux
- VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, KVM
- Good understanding of networking basics, OSI networking model
- Switch configurations
- Control panel systems such as WHM/cPanel and Plesk
Any knowledge or experience of the following would be desirable but are not essential:
- Web stack optimisation (Nginx, Varnish, Opcode caching, etc.)
- MS Exchange
- MS Active Directory
- RHCE/RHCSA/CCNA
- MCSE
- VMware VCP
- SQL Server
- Active Directory
- Shared Storage – Equallogic, Compellent
- VPN technologies
- Magento optimisation
