UX Designer

Settled was founded on the belief that there needs to be progressive change in the real-estate sector. We’re on a mission to put a smile on the faces of everyone buying or selling a home. As well as being led by former Google execs, we've received backing from Silicon Valley VC, 500.co and Sir John Hegarty’s The Garage Soho.

People are at the heart of everything we do and we're building a team of smart, creative thinkers; passionate about collaborating and making a difference. We’re at an exciting stage and we’re looking for a UX Designer to join the team.

The Person

  • We are looking for an experienced UX Designer, who can help us solve the frictions involved in the traditional way of selling and buying homes in the UK.
  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced UX designer, used to working in an Agile fashion and collaborating closely with a cross-functional team.
  • You will feel comfortable in a fast pace environment, applying interaction design knowledge across mobile (responsive) and desktop. Getting customer and stakeholder feedback early and often doesn’t phase you, as you seek to deliver customer value continuously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create low and high fidelity sketches, wireframes and prototypes for both (responsive) web and apps, which can be used for experiments and user research.
  • Support user research and evaluate user feedback with iterative design work and practices.
  • Facilitate UX design workshops and other such collaborative sessions across the design process.
  • Tell the story of the customer, their jobs-to-be-done and create internal consensus around user outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with the developers and product manager to make sure that your proposed designs and interactions will meet user needs and can be implemented.
  • Act as a champion for good user experience, sharing best practice and demonstrating curiosity about user needs and behaviours.
  • Suggest ways to validate product ideas or prototypes with (target) customers, validating tangible assumptions and hypotheses.
  • Work closely with our visual designers to ensure your final designs meet our brand and style guidelines.

The Skills

This role is there for the right person to shape – we don’t believe in pigeon holes or strict criteria however. Hoowever, some of the following would be an advantage:

  • A track record of creating a delightful user experience for a range of digital products – mobile and web - and a portfolio to prove it.
  • Experience with creating prototypes of different levels of fidelity, using tools like Balsamiq, Sketch, Photoshop, Axure, Zeplin, Invision and Marvel.
  • An appreciation of user psychology, understanding how language and design resonate with users.
  • Concrete examples of releasing products to market in a lean fashion, adding to products iteratively throughout the product life cycle.
  • A proven approach to mapping user needs, experiences and customer journeys.
  • A working knowledge of user research, knowing about methods to validate the assumptions that underpin your designs.
  • An excellent communicator, and can clearly articulate your design decisions both verbally and in well-structured, well-presented written form.

The Job

  • A highly collaborative and fun work environment, with a fun and strong team culture and focused on solving real customer problems.
  • Being able to move fast and disrupt.
  • Plenty of opportunity to try, learn and try again. We work in a user centric and iterative fashion. As a UX designer you will have ample opportunity to make a direct impact.
  • Located in a startup accelerator in Hoxton, 2 mins from Hoxton and 5-10 mins from Shoreditch and Old Street stations.
