Web Developer

We need 1 clever and highly motivated Web Developer to join our Core Infrastructure teamin this exciting phase that will have a serious impact on sustainability of our planet. 

The Core Infrastructure team is building the very foundation upon which the rest of the ACT organization will be standing so it has to be built as solid as a rocket.
These systems will be formed by a highly cohesive, loosely coupled service-oriented architecture so it is a plus with deep experience from developing web apps for such a system.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a small, talented, self-organized, responsible, high-performance team that implements solutions for the most hands-on solution to mitigate global climate change.

We are looking for folks who:

  • can demonstrate teamwork and good establish effective working relations with other people of diverse background
  • can demonstrate resourcefulness and creativity in problem solving
  • have 3+ years of experience building scalable web (and mobile) products (preferably for platforms with users in the millions)
  • can demonstrate fluent command of written and spoken English
  • have expertise in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from Concept and Design to Testing
  • have an understand of what aps can do and what can happen if they become life-integrated tools
  • are used to transforming business requirements into flexible, robust software architecture
  • have a keen interest in creating high-quality code and the ability to optimize it at run-time
  • can demonstrate fluent command of written and spoken English
  • have experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • have strong knowledge of web development on different screen sizes
  • have strong knowledge of web development UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • has experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
  • have the ability to design applications around natural user interfaces, such as “touch”
  • have knowledge of the open-source web development ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
  • have familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
  • have a knack for benchmarking and optimization
  • have experience using version control repositories preferably Git

In addition it would be helpful if you:

  • have hands-on experience from Agile/Scrum development process and code reviews
  • have experience from developing browser extensions

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with mobile developers around unified design of web & mobile app
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code
  • Design, build, and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable javascript (and similar) code
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
  • Integration of user-facing elements developed with server side logic
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation

The web developer will work as co-founder directly and closely with the original founders and be a part of our small team of entrepreneurs with a flat organizational structure. Since the company is in an early phase you will be able to shape your role in the company exactly how you like it best.

WORK PLACE

This job should at best be carried out as much as possible in co-location with ACT in Oslo, but we are open to remote work too.
