LEAD SYSTEM ENGINEER

Job Description

Lead the system engineering team for one or more projects within D-Orbit engineering team. Carry out the system-related activities on D-Orbit spacecraft, following the whole subsystem lifecycle. Design and develop the subsystem, coordinating with designers and developers of all areas of the engineering and manufacturing teams. Manage technical data exchanges with suppliers. Follow prototyping and engineering activities up to subsystem qualification. Take part in AIV of flight model and support operations from mission setup to in-flight system testing and maintenance.

Tasks And Responsibilities

The duties of a spacecraft system engineer during the entire duration of a mission typically include:

  • Defining top level design and requirements, starting from mission and payload requirements;
  • Designing and verifying detailed system and operation, in coordination with the rest of the spacecraft subsystems;
  • Leading subsystem and software specifications and development;
  • Defining system operations and support to in-flight operations during launch and early orbital phase (LEOP);
  • Leading the project technical team;
  • Acting as a technical interface with customers, program managers, and the commercial team;
  • Acting as an interface with the CTO for technology acquisition and development implementation;
  • Compiling and editing technical documents;
  • Managing system budget and team schedule.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Knowledge of system engineering;
  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics, and system-level knowledge of all spacecraft subsystems;
  • At least two years of working experience;
  • Having supported at least one flown mission as part of the system engineering team;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proven leadership capabilities and strong charisma;
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work in team.

Education

  • Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent), preferably in Aerospace Engineering.

Language

  • Full professional proficiency of English language is mandatory.
